The moment we suspect that our child has ADHD, we need to consult family physician. Medication may not be good answer and it is very rarely advised to children under age three. Some parents get good results their child's diet. We can make ourselves in contact with support groups. The support group helps to share our experiences with other people who are troubled by the same problems. The Hyperactive Children's Support Group can put us in touch with a local group if that exists. we need to be calm and organised. Just like any other child, a toddler with ADHD needs a clear routine. AS he is disorganised,we need to compensate for this by being very organised. planing his day is very important. Hence we should not vary the routine and keep unexpected events to a bare minimum. we need to
discipline him. We have to concentrate on 1 or 2 aspects of his behaviour
. As the toddler has poor attention, anything that we try to tell him
must be clear and precise . We may have to repeat it The noise
in the house should be kept to a minimum, We should maintain calm and should never beat him. At the time of frustration in handling the toddler with ADHD we must step back and do something else for a minute. We must be positive and avoid problems. We need to Keep the atmosphere at home calm and keep tension to a minimum. The toddler generally react badly to a tense atmosphere. As the child
will want to touch everything in sight, we have to put things that we
donot need out of reach of the child. As the toddler with ADHD IS VERY
sensitive and constantly denying his request will only damage his self-esteem
and make him feel more frustrated.hence the should avoid denying him or
her.
