Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Symptoms

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder also called ADHD, is a chronic condition, commonly diagnosed behavioral disorder among children and adolescents.

adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder have
difficulty in controlling their behavior in school and other environment.

The patients tend to be accident prone. Some of these
Young people may not earn high grades in school, in spite of normal or above-normal intelligence.

There are three different types of attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder. Each one type will have different symptoms. The types are
inattentive type, hyperactive impulsive type, and combined attention deficit hyperactivity disorder type.

The patients with the inattentive type may have very short attention spans. They may be distracted easily. They may not pay attention to details. They tend to make many mistakes, and fail to finish things. They will have trouble remembering things.

They donot seem to listen. They cannot stay organized. Children with the hyperactive impulsive type may fidget and squirm. They are unable to stay seated or play quietly. They may run or climb too much.

They tend to talk too much . They blurt out answers before questions are over. They will have trouble taking turns. They tend to interrupt others.The combined attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is the most common type.

As the name implies, it is a combination of the inattentive and the hyperactive impulsive types. One of the Attention deficit hyperactivity disorders is diagnosed when children have several of the above Symptoms that begin before age 7 and should last for a minimum of six 6 months.

The symptoms Should be observed in at least two different settings [such as home and school], before taking a decision on diagnosis.Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is found in as many as one in every 20 children in America as per U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1999.

Boys have this disorder four 4 times more than the girls. Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder may have many other mental disorders.

Nearly fifty percent of the people who have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder have oppositional or conduct disorder. One fourth of ADHD children have an anxiety disorder.

As many as one-third of ADHD children have depression. About one-fifth of ADHD children have a learning disability. At times children will have two or more of the above mentioned

Disorders in addition to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is also at risk of developing personality abuse disorders when they become adults.
